Lessons in life.

My dad has always given money to charity. Growing up, I’ve always watched him pass on change to those in need. The sad thing is, some people abuse the need. In Malaysia, a lot of the charities asking for donations don’t actually exist. I remember when Zach and I were walking down the streets a few years ago, we were harassed by a monk asking for donations for a temple. I handed him a $5, he didn’t want it and did not want to accept anything lower than a $50. I was angry. Its these people that make me loose faith in humanity.

I haven’t been very good with giving these few years. I don’t know how to react when a homeless person asks for money when they’re sitting outside a liquor store. I don’t know what to think. But when I don’t give them anything, I usually think about my actions for days. Thank you Heather, for reminding me to believe in the better side of humanity. I am going to try to be better about giving. Christmas is around the corner, it’s a good time to give.
